History of Aston Martin
Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford are the persons behind one of the best automobile manufacturing company called Aston Martin. This company was founded in the year 1913. These two were highly skilled and they knew how to service a car and other such things. Martin made a car for the first time by utilizing the 1908 model Isotta Fraschini. Martin and Bamford were going to manufacture their first car, but the outbreak of first world war was the only reason why they didn’t manufacture it that time. 1922, was the year in which they started producing cars. These cars set world records in the French Grand Prix. In the year 1924, Aston Martin was bankrupt, and afterwards a rich lady named Charnwood bought it and she appointed her son Benson in a top position in the company. 1926, the company was closed and Martin left the company the same year.
Later on, some rich investors like Charnwood, Bill Renwick, Bertelli etc joined hands together and started the company again and they changed the name of the company to Aston Martin Motors. And this was in the same year 1926. Bertelli became the technical director. And he was in that postion during the years 1926-1937. They started producing saloon and coupes. Well, it was in the year 1936, Aston Martin started to produce road cars for the general people.
David Brown bought Aston Martin in the year 1947. He also bought Lagonda. And thus these two companies started sharing each others equipments and other tools and resources. The classic cars are with the initials DB because of David Brown. He is the man who bought Tickford company as well. In 1995, the production of classic cars with initial as DB started and it became a real success that time. The DB2 version cars started in the year 1950. DB3 and DB4 cars were produced in the years 1957 and 1958 respectively. One of the last version in the DB models is the DB8 and it was produced in the year 1967. The production of the DB8 cars ended in the year 1972.
Again, the company started to face financial problems. It was sold to William Wilson in the year 1972. After 3 years it was again sold. And this time it was bought by George Minden and Peter Sprague. And they started producing stunning cars like the V8 Vantage (1977), Volate (1978) etc. In the year 1981, Gaunlett Tim Hearley bought stake in Aston Martin. They became the owners of the company. They started producing world’s best cars with 4 seats. These cars became famous in gulf countries like oman, qatar, kuwait etc.
By the year 1998, about 2000 DB7 were built. This was a huge success for Aston Martin. The V-12 Vanquish cars of Aston Martin was produced in the year 2001. In 2007 Vanquish S was built at it’s new site which was in Newport Pagnell.
